I am looking for other Moms who have any ideas about good ways for us moms to relax and rejuvenate our spirits. Despite what your spouse might think, just because you don't work at a nine-to-five job, where you sit in an office, does not mean that your job as a stay-at-home mom is any less grueling or that it is easier. Even though you might be in your home, you are still working- and most likely a lot harder and longer hours than your spouse. What are some things you do to keep your sanity,in the wake of having to watch the same Barney video with your daughter for the 10th time . I'd love to talk to like-minded stay-at-home Moms.

I really try to get to the gym, I try to read a book as often as possible and call my sisters to commisorate about how tough it is.

The suggestion about getting up before the rest of the family works for me. I set my alarm for an hour before the rest of the family gets up and I use the time to have coffee (outside if the weather is good), read the paper or part of a book without interruptions, read/answer e-mail, etc. Since I started taking some "me" time, I have a lot more energy and patience.

Thanks for posting your message, as a fellow stay-at-home mom please feel free to send me suggestions on what you'd like to see on this site. I completely agree with you. Since I'm a night person, once the kids are asleep that's when I can finally "exhale". I do much of the same things as you-read my favorite sections of the newspaper, watch a little television, maybe give myself a facial. I really use that hour and a half to destress and recharge. Hi Melissa,

I have been a SAHM for going on 26 years now. (We celebrate our 26th anniv in June). We have also always homeschooled our 7 children. It's important to find time for not only yourself but you and hubby as well.

Here are some things we do:

hide in the bathtub with bubbles and a book

make a weekly date night (yep we date AT HOME!)

teach the kids to honor your private time alone or together.

go for long walks

I like your site,

Belinda

Belinda-

I am in awe of you. I have a hard time managing two kids- how do you do it with seven, and you homeschool as well! Kudos to you!!! I think all of us Moms can certainly learn some valuable lessons from you. I really appreciate your ideas. I'm going to post them on my blog. My one question- which I'm sure many other Moms are curious about- How can you possibly date at home?? I rarely get to go to the bathroom on my own these days!! Please send me more of your tips.
Thanks-
Melissa
