Sweepstakes Winners Dress one family member as the prize recipient - a woman in curlers and a robe. The rest of the family is the prize delivery team, dressed in business attire and carrying microphones, cameras, balloons, and a big check.
Jack and the Beanstalk This works well for couples with a baby. In green sweats or leggings and a turtleneck, and wrapped in artificial greenery (available at craft stores), Mom is the beanstalk. Dad, the giant, wears an oversized shirt belted and stuffed with a pillow, thermal underwear bottoms, and large shoes. Dress baby "Jack" in cotton shirt, pants, and vest.
Mount Rushmore Find a large piece of cardboard, such as a panel from a refrigerator box. Paint or cut mountain peaks along the top edge, and cut four holes for your faces. Wear gray face paint and, if available, accessories appropriate to each president (for example, a beard for Abraham Lincoln).
Freudian Slips Dress each family member in a black turtleneck and leggings with a full-length slip or sleeveless nightgown over the top. Using bold-tip markers, have each famly member write a Freudian phrase (e.g., id, ego, psychoanalysis, repression) on a piece of white paper and tape the paper to his or her slip.
Multi-family Garage Sale If you're trick-or-treating with another family, dress the whole gang in old, mismatched clothing. Wear or carry random household items (think lampshade hats or kitchen utensils strung together as a necklace). Carry a sign or two, lettered with phrases like "No early sales" and "Everything must go."
